Zack Gottsagen, a Boynton Beach native who starred in “The Peanut Butter Falcon,” made history at the Oscars Sunday night.
Gottsagen, alongside co-star Shia LaBeouf, presented the award for Best Live Action Short, which went to "The Neighbors' Window," the Sun Sentinel reported. At 34 years old, Gottsagen became the first presenter with Down syndrome at the ceremony, according to ENews.
“The Peanut Butter Falcon" features a young man named “Zak” with Down syndrome who runs away from a nursing home to follow his dream of studying professional wrestling.
Gottsagen had also received the Newcomer Award for his role as "Zak" by the Hollywood Critics Association.
