New security measures begin this year.

CBS12 News has learned every school in the State of Florida will be required to have an officer on campus as part of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas school safety act. In addition, schools in Palm Beach, Martin, Indian River and St. Lucie counties will also have a single point of entry, security fences and security cameras in place.

The Palm Beach County School District will allow individual schools to decide whether to make all students wear ID badges.

Indian River and Martin County Schools each have a new head of safety.

And St. Lucie County Schools plan to implement new code red procedures.
