Authorities are searching for a 71-year-old man who's been missing since early Wednesday morning.

The Martin County Sheriff’s Marine and Aviation Unit are helping the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) search for 71-year old Stephen Crouch of Palm City.

Crouch was seen leaving the Treasure Coast Rowing Club at Charlie Leighton Park around 6:45 a.m., when he put a rented kayak in the water and headed out, the Martin County Sheriff's Office said. He was supposed to return in two hours but he never showed up.

Marine Units found the kayak about a mile from Hosford Park but Crouch was nowhere to be found.

FWC is requesting video assistance from surrounding homes or businesses in that area around the South Fork River, the sheriff's office said. Crouch put the kayak in the water along Cornell Avenue in Palm City, then headed south along the river. The kayak was found in the water closer to Mapp Road.

Anyone with information or video that may have captured images of Crouch is asked to call FWC at 888-404-3922 or the Martin County Sheriff’s Office.
