Death toll from Hurricane Michael up to 11

CNN is reporting there are five new deaths related to Hurricane Michael, the category 4 hurricane that hit Florida's Panhandle with 155 mph winds.

It brings the total number of deaths to at least 11. CNN reporter Nick Valencia says four of those deaths happened in Gadsden County.

The fifth fatality happened in Georgia when a carport hit a home, killing an 11-year-old girl.

A sixth death likely tied to the storm happened in Statesville, North Carolina. WBTV reports a tree fell on a car.

The Virginia Department of Emergency Management says as of 7 a.m. on Friday there are five confirmed Michael related deaths. The Associated Press says four people drowned and a firefighter was killed.
