A man from West Palm Beach is accused of beating a woman over gas money.
According to the Palm Beach Sheriff's Office, Greatavious Ashley was dropping a woman off at work so he could use her car to run errands. The woman told deputies they began arguing after Ashley demanded gas money.
The woman decided not to allow Ashley to use her car and drove him home. She told deputies Ashley refused to get out of her car and began hitting her in the chest and stomach, and then restrained her hands. According to the arrest report, the victim feared for her life, and used her knees to hit the car's horn.
A community maintenance worker heard the horn and approached the car. He told deputies the woman was being held against her will and begged him to call 911.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office states Ashley forcefully removed the woman from the car and physically assaulted her. She claims Ashley punched her, pulled her hair, and tried to break her hand and finger.
Ashley then took the woman's phone, glasses, and debit card from her car and walked away, according to the arrest report.
Deputies later found Ashley walking down the street. According to the arrest report, Ashley confirmed he was in a physical altercation with the woman.
PBSO arrested Ashley and charged him with battery, prevent communication with 911, and false imprisonment.
