A mother and her three children, reported missing by the Indian River County Sheriff's Office, have been found safe.

Deputies on Tuesday began searching for 26-year-old Sophia Thelisma of Vero Beach and her children, all under seven years old.

Investigators believed all three were traveling in a black Pontiac Grand AM bearing Florida tag AHXG74 or a 2000 Ford Expedition bearing Florida tag 3943JX.

Thelisma was being sought to verify the welfare of the children and actively evaded law enforcement, according to the sheriff's office. Investigators said she had been known to frequent St. Lucie County, specifically the Fort Pierce area.

The sheriff's office said Sophia Thelisma and her 3 children were located early Wednesday morning. The Indian River County Sheriff's Office tweeted the mom and her children came to their headquarters after hearing the story on the news.
