A new era of football is back in South Florida.

The Miami Dolphins host the Atlanta Falcons at Hard Rock Stadium on Thursday.

The big story will be the battle for the starting quarterback position.

The Dolphins acquired Josh Rosen from the Arizona Cardinals and 15-year veteran, 36-year-old Ryan Fitzpatrick.

Rosen became the 4th-youngest quarterback in NFL history to reach 2,000 passing yards.

Fitzpatrick had the best season by a quarterback in the history of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers by posting a 100.4 QB rating.

Also new on the sidelines is Coach Brian Flores who says he wants to bring a little New England style defense to the field.

Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.

Coverage on CBS12 begins at 7 p.m. with our preseason special, "Fins Fever," hosted by Sports Director John Evenson.
