A suspect wanted in a hit-and-run case witnessed by a Florida Highway Patrol trooper in Boca Raton is now in custody in Tennessee, FHP says.

Investigators issued a warrant for 24-year-old William Alex Sidney Pantaleon shortly after the trooper witnessed the incident.

The hit-and-run happened near the intersection of I-95 and Congress Avenue on Monday morning.

According to the FHP, Trooper Jennifer White, while on routine patrol, saw a woman get out of a Honda Civic. She was waving her arms in an effort to get the trooper's attention and appeared to be in distress. Before White could get to her, the FHP said the driver of the Honda crossed several lanes of traffic and ran over the woman before driving away.

The trooper decided to stay with the woman instead of go after Pantaleon.

Investigators say the suspect's car is a black older model Honda Civic with a red trim. The license plate is NBZZ70. Call Crime Stoppers at 800-458-TIPS if you have any information. You'll remain anonymous and could receive a cash reward if your tip leads to an arrest.

The woman suffered serious injuries. No word on her condition.
