Four beaches in Palm Beach County are under health advisories after water tests results showed elevated levels of bacteria.

The water at Dubois Park, Lake Worth-Kreusler Beach, Ocean Inlet Park and Lantana Beach received a poor rating from the Florida Department of Health Palm Beach County.

The health department said contact with the water may pose an increased risk of infectious disease, especially for susceptible individuals.

What led to a spike in the bacteria levels is unknown, but the health department said heavy rain, high surf, and heavy recreational usage can be contributing factors.
