A man from Palm Beach Gardens will be without a driver's license for the next year after being adjudicated guilty in a fatal crash.

The crash happened in May along Okeechobee Boulevard, just east of the Florida Turnpike.

Investigators with the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office said Joshua Woodard, at the wheel of a Tesla, crashed into a Honda Civic at "a high rate of speed."

The impact sent the victim's car into a telephone pole, killing 25-year-old Bryant Gonzalez of Belle Glade, according to the sheriff's office.

Woodard pleaded no contest to careless driving in court on Wednesday. The judge found Woodward guilty and sentenced him to a $1166 fine, a 12-month suspension of his driver's license with no hardship license.
