Detectives are searching for a suspect who shot a Broward County deputy early Wednesday morning, the Broward Sheriff's Office said.

The deputy was doing a routine patrol in an unmarked vehicle near the Savage Beauty Supply at at 5716 W. Hallandale Beach Blvd. just after 4 a.m. when he noticed a suspicious 2019 white Mercedes-Benz CLS 550 pull into the rear parking lot, the sheriff's office said. As the deputy approached the vehicle to investigate, 36-year-old Johny Dabrezil, of Miami, got out of the driver’s seat of the Mercedes-Benz and fired a single shot at the deputy.

However, Dabrezil missed both the deputy and his vehicle, according to the sheriff's office. Dabrezil then got back in his vehicle and fled the scene with a juvenile passenger.

The deputy immediately activated his lights and sirens and pursued Dabrezil into Hollywood, losing sight of the Mercedes-Benz near Dewey Street and S. 56th Avenue, the sheriff's office said. The vehicle was found by Hollywood Police officers in the rear parking lot of Executive Towing and Recovery on Dewey Street in Hollywood.

Dabrezil, who fled the scene on foot, was not found, according to the sheriff's office. The juvenile passenger was later found and released.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on Dabrezil’s whereabouts to contact Violent Crimes Detective Derek Diaz at 954-321-4356. If you wish to remain anonymous, please contact Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477) or submit a tip online.
