Police warn residents of utility company robocall scams

Scammers are once again using the coronavirus pandemic as a way to target people.

Boynton Beach Police are warning residents about robocalls from power utility companies threatening to turn off electricity if bills are not paid within 30 minutes. Police say the call prompts you to "press 1 to speak to a representative."

Police are telling residents to hang up the phone and call your utility provider to check your account status because the call is a scam.
