A hiker captured photos of a rare 4-foot rainbow snake in Ocala National Forest.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission shared the photos on their Facebook page.
According to the post, the Florida Museum of Natural History confirmed this is the first record of this species in Marion County since 1969.
The FWC says rainbow snakes are highly-aquatic, spending most of their life hidden amongst aquatic vegetation and are rarely seen. They're usually seen near bodies of water.
