A 64-year-old registered sex offender has been arrested after deputies said he engaged in a sexually explicit conversation online with a police officer acting as a decoy child, the Martin County Sheriff's Office said.

Detectives said Patrick Jeffrey Cruse from Jensen Beach sent explicit pictures online and through text messages to what he thought was a minor.

He was arrested Thursday night after arranging to meet the "minor" for sex. That minor was actually an Orlando Police officer acting as a decoy child.

Orlando Police contacted detectives with the Martin County Sheriffs Office's Special Victim’s Unit who arrested Patrick Jeffrey Cruse at his Jensen Beach home.

He has been charged with solicitation of child pornography.
