Josh Rosen has earned the right to keep the Dolphins starting quarterback job. Dolphins head coach Brian Flores described the starting QB situation as “settled” on Wednesday morning before practice, but says Rosen still had a lot to work on.

Rosen is 43 of 84 passing for 483 yards on the season since taking over Ryan Fitzpatrick as the starter, with one touchdown, and three interceptions. He’s showed progress with the offense over the past two games that he’s started against the Cowboys and. Chargers, but has struggled mightily in the second half in those two losses.

“I think he’s a young and talented player, and I think he needs to get in there and develop and get reps,” said Flores on Wednesday. “When he’s scrambling, if he can throw the ball away, I mean that would be an improvement, something we’ve talked about a lot. Hopefully if I say it to you guys he’ll listen.”

Flores also hopes his team with follow his lead on not taking the winless Redskins for granted. Flores says he’s preparing for Washington with the same intensity as he did for the defending Super Bowl champion New England Patriots.

“To me it’s the same,” says Flores. “I don’t really look at records, I’m looking at a team, and I see a front that’s as good as a front we’ve seen (all year), Every team poses problems. Every team is tough. My approach is the same, we’re going to have to play a smart, disciplined and tough game.”
