Two women are dead in a shooting in the Miami area.

Miami-Dade Police said the shooting happened Sunday morning on NW 20th Avenue in Liberty City.

Police said someone opened fire on a group of people standing next to a car, killing 27-year-old Stephanie Telusme and 23-year-old Joanna Telusme. The Miami Herald reported the two victims are sisters and the shooting took place outside a public housing complex.

Two others are in the hospital.

No word on what led up to the shooting.

Police tried to stop a car seen leaving the area at the time of the shooting. The driver refused to stop. A short time later, the driver and occupants bailed from the car. Police detained three people. One has been arrested on an unrelated drug charge. The other two have been released, police said.
