Jupiter Island resident Tiger Woods, has announced that he will not be playing in his hometown tournament next week.
Woods, who was getting ready to tee off at the WGC- Mexico Championship on Thursday, tweeted 'Unfortunately, due to the schedule this year, I cannot play all the events I want to. I will be taking next week off."
Tiger added, "Sorry to miss seeing Jack and everyone at Honda".
Tiger has chosen to rest during the Honda Classic after playing for two straight weeks. He has instead chosen to play the Arnold Palmer Invitational, which he's won 8 times.
Tiger had just made his grand return to the Honda Classic last year after missing three straight years because of injuries. Tiger's announcement did not spoil the Honda Classic kickoff party on Thursday night, with orfanizers well aware that attendence has increased consistently over the past three years, even though Woods did not play for two of them.
"Obviously having Tiger Woods make his decision today is not something that we desire," says executive director Ken Kennerly. "A lot of people in our community come every year regardless of who's in the field to be honest with you."
