The Florida Highway Patrol Trooper who shot and killed a reckless driver earlier this month in Delray Beach has been identified.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Trooper Horlkins Saget attempted to pull over the driver of a stolen car last Tuesday. The driver didn't pull over, prompting a short chase.

Trooper Saget shot and killed 33-year-old Steve Gilbert after Gilbert opened fired on troopers after crashing the car on Atlantic Ave.

Trooper Saget is on administrative leave which is standard procedure after the use of deadly force.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is handling the investigation.
