A new video from Boynton Beach Police is serving as a reminder to put on the brakes before running a red light.
Police shared a clip of a driver running a red light at SE 23rd Avenue and Federal Highway on Jan. 26.
Investigators said the light was red for more than five seconds when the driver of a Chevy Cobalt flew through the intersection at 44 miles per hour. The car crashed into an Isuzu Rodeo.
Both drivers had to go to the hospital with injuries, police said. The driver of the Cobalt received a citation for running a red light.
"We routinely share videos of red light camera violations in the hopes of creating a constructive dialogue about the dangers of distracted driving. We all need to slow down, put away the cell and pay attention to everything going on around us. Lives depend on it," police wrote in the Facebook post.
