A man is accused of firing shots inside a hotel lobby because he was reportedly upset over a lack of social distancing.

Police say the shooter is Douglas Marks of Miami.

Witnesses say he confronted a woman and her son inside the lobby of the Crystal Beach Suites at 69th Street and Collins Avenue.

"You aren't social distancing," he reportedly said. "Then you all need to leave."

He then grabbed a gun and started shooting.

"He tried to shoot at the girl and the kid," a witness said.

The witness, who didn't want to be identified, says he shielded the mother and son.

He also said Marks fired about six shots, but nobody was struck.

"I'm a lucky person," he said.

Marks is facing several charges, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and discharging a firearm in public.
