A photo of a bear enjoying the sunrise in New Hampshire is going viral.
Sam Geesaman, a hotel worker, took the shot from the back veranda at the Omni Mount Washington Hotel and Resort.
Geesaman called it a photograph of a lifetime, and it all came together during the night shift on June 29. He told CBS12 News he wanted to catch the sunrise that morning over Mount Washington when he saw an adolescent black bear coming up the stairs to sniff out a nearby trash can. Geesaman said he alerted other workers to keep guests away from the area.
"While following behind it attempting to usher it to the nearest exit, the bear decided to hop up on the rail and enjoy the sunrise as I had intended to do myself," said Geesaman.
The photographer said he clapped and stomped to ultimately shoo the bear back into the woods.
The hotel, which is in the middle of the bear's habitat, makes every effort to notify guests that they are in bear country and that these amazing animals should not be approached, Geesaman added.
Geesaman recently moved to New Hampshire from where he grew up in Boulder, Colorado.
