John Carroll wins, Oxbridge falls in softball state title games

A historic day at Historic Dodgertown, left one South Florida softball squad celebrating a state championship, while another fell just a big short.

John Carroll Catholic won the 3A state championship Thursday afternoon with a 4-1 defeat of Lakeland Christian. The Golden Rams trailed 1-0 in the 2nd, before they plated four straight runs in the victory. Ashley Rosado pitched the complete game victory. First state championship since 1996 for the Golden Rams softball team.

Oxbridge Academy saw its historic season come to an end on Thursday night in Vero Beach. Westminster Christian toppled the Thunderwolves 4-2. The teams were tied at 0 through four innings, when pitcher Lianna Mullins ran into trouble, and walked in the first run of the game. Mullins had an RBI single to close the gap to 3-2, but the rally would end there. Oxbridge finishes off the best season in school history.
