Defending Masters Champion Sergio Garcia called Tuesday night’s Masters Champions dinner one of the “coolest and most amazing nights” of his life, hosting the event featuring a menu inspired by his Spanish roots.
But Wednesday morning’s inspiration was all about defending his Masters title, one year after winning his first ever major.
“It’s amazing. (There’s obviously) a lot of memories,” Garcia said. “A lot of thought about last year (have been going through my head.”
Meanwhile, with all of the history at Augusta National Golf Club, some brand new significant history was made on Wednesday. Augusta National Chairman Fred Ridley announced that the new Augusta National Women’s Amateur Championship will start next year, and be played the Saturday before the Masters.
“That’s unbelievable, that’s fantastic,” Bryson DeChambeau said. “Anything to grow the game, for them to do that, it’s pretty special.”
As the game of golf continues to grow, so does the list of Masters Champions.
The question is, will we get a brand new one here come Sunday?
