Dolphins take Minkah Fitzpatrick with the 11th overall pick in NFL Draft

The Dolphins had a number of needs going into the NFL Draft - linebacker, defensive tackle, tight end, future quarterback.

With the 11th overall pick in the NFL Draft on Wednesday night, the Dolphins selected Minkah Fitzpatrick, a defensive back out of Alabama.

The quarterback landscape in the AFC East looks like it might change for next season. Both the Jets (USC's Sam Darnold) and the Bills (Wyoming's Josh Allen) took quarterbacks with their first pick. The Bills traded to the #7 overall spot to select Allen.

The year after making the playoffs, the Dolphins finished 6-10 last year. They lost some important leaders in the offseason - defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, wide receiver Jarvis Landry and special teams captain Michael Thomas among them - and the Fins were looking to add some important players from the draft into the fold.
