Four years ago, Dwyer High School won a football state championship with one of the most talented classes the school has ever seen.
Now those players are beginning to finish their college careers, and one, is realizing his dream of going pro.
One of the most talented players on that team was Shawn Boone, a defensive back, whose last game as a Panther was winning that championship..
Tuesday, he was back on campus watching spring practice. Boone started his last two years at North Carolina State, racking up 4 interceptions and over 150 tackles with the Wolfpack.
Boone did not get taken in this weekend's NFL Draft - but he did sign a free agent deal with the Texans. He reports to Houston next week, to try to earn a spot with the team.
Boone says he hopes his multiple skills will help earn him a job, because he can play safety, defensive back, and special teams. And says that not being drafted, certainly lights a fire for him to go make his dream a reality.
