Three years ago, Palm Beach Gardens High first baseman Pavin Smith heard his name called in the draft - he went in the 32nd round to the Rockies.

Smith would've gone much higher, but he told teams to not bother taking him - he was going to school.

Now his draft stock has gone through the roof.

Smith has played at the University of Virginia the last three years, and some mock drafts have him going as high as number 12 overall to Marlins next Monday night.

Smith had a sparkling career at UVA. He's second in school history in RBI, led the team in hits his freshman year when they won the national championship, and this year was a semifinalist for the Golden Spikes Award, baseball's version of the Heisman Trophy.

But now he's ready for what's next.

The first 75 picks are Monday night, with rounds 3-10 following Tuesday, and the remaining 40 rounds Wednesday.
