Willie Smith was an elite athlete at Glades Central High School and in college before being confined to a wheelchair.

That reality has not kept him down as he inspires the youth of Belle Glade to live out their dreams.

Six bullets changed Smith’s life forever, but now he’s changing others' lives in a positive way through his track and field team called Sweatshop NBS, which stands for Nothing but speed.

The small up-and-coming team has often had to practice on a make shift track using pavement from a local car part, yet 24 kids have advanced to the USATF Junior Olympic Championships in Jacksonville the last week of July, all fueled by Willie’s inspiration.
