Dwyer football team has a championship mentality heading into 2021

There’s a rich football history at Dwyer High School.

The Panthers, who were state champions in 2009 and 2013, are doing their best to create a championship vibe as they prepare for 2021.

The Panthers platers are happy to be on the practice field the start of the school year this time after the pandemic pushed a shortened season late into the year in 2020. Nine of the Panthers main offensive players are returning to the team and they are ready to push the limits, according to third-year head coach McKinley Rolle.

Rolle says this Dwyer team also has some younger talent who could potentially raise some eyebrows.

"One thing I'll say about us is we have a lot of decent kids that can run," he said. "We're a team that has a lot of athleticism as well, and versatility. That's something that I'm excited about."

The Panthers will kick off the season Aug. 27 at Jupiter High School. Their first home game will be Sept. 10 when they host Palm Beach Gardens High School.
